Here's how the New York Daily News described Britt's latest run-in with the law, which occurred in Hoboken, N.J.
"Police said Britt was in line to pay at a car wash when they smelled marijuana and noticed the wide receiver was allegedly holding a brown, rolled cigar. Hoboken Detective Sgt. Sam Williams said the police identified themselves and attempted to handcuff Britt -- who tried to wrestle away and crush the cigar."
Britt has been charged with obstructing the administration of the law, resisting arrest and tampering with or fabricating evidence."
Those charges carry a possible sentence of 3-5 years upon conviction. Britt will appear in court June 16.
This took place just one day after Britt pleaded guilty to separate minor vehicle violations stemming from an April incident in which Britt was alleged to have led police on a chase. Britt was fined $478, and four points will be transferred to his driver's license for those infractions. He was originally changed with three crimes in that case, including the third-degree felony of eluding an officer, but they were later reduced. FANTASY ANALYSIS: They say the true definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Well, Britt keeps getting arrested, but he should expect different results as far as punishment from the NFL league office. Britt has been arrested a few times as a pro, but has gotten off easy thus far. He may have been suspended for the chase incident, but the prevailing sentiment was that he is probably in the clear after the charges were reduced. But to follow that news with another stupid move right away just cries out for a suspension.
Britt is very talented and was in the midst of a breakout season last year before a hamstring injury dragged him down. But he keeps acting like an idiot, and he won't get off so cleanly after this latest episode. You should expect that Britt will be suspended multiple games for this, obviously affecting his fantasy draft stock.
The fact that the Titans don't have a proven NFL QB on their roster -- Kerry Collins is a free agent -- is another reason to downgrade Britt. But stuff happening on the field seems to be the least of Britt's concerns once again.
